The centre of the pitch square was located by hand; four points were placed on the boundary rope or perimeter fence at straight on, straight off, square leg and square off. Distances were calculated geodesically and averaged across opposing pairs. Accuracy is estimated at ±2 m, sensitive to rope visibility and pitch placement at the moment the image was captured.
